Mount Point for Extra Disk Space on BlueHost VPS

We recently had to increase the storage space for one of our clients who are on a BlueHost VPS package. Adding the extra 30GB was easy enough but after that gets setup, you have an undefined mount point.

The main mount point was at root level (“/”) so we figured “/public_html/stage/” would do the trick but no dice. After calling BlueHost, they told us the same thing but after looking at the file system through SSH, it was pretty obvious that our new files were still uploading to the main disk instead of /dev/vdc.

After calling again, we found out that we needed an absolute path from the server root, so “/home/{user}/public_html” – that did the trick.

And if you were googling for a solution, hopefully that helped you and saved you some support calls!
